Another Pharaoh lost - Paul Sessions, 1974, died of a heart attack Tuesday, August 18, 2009. His funeral is Tuesday, August 25, at First Evangelical Church at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Paul was very active in his church and had a strong faith. He leaves his wife Lynn and his two teenage children. He will be greatly missed.

The First Pharaoh Association is having their annual outing the weekend of July 24 and 25. We will gather at Central Bar-b-que at 4375 Summer Avenue. We will meet at 6PM to share memories and catch up with old friends. This was such a success last year we decided to make it a yearly event. There will be a buffet cost about $7.00 a person or you can order off the menu. It is casual and laid back. Please email me kdraffin@package-supply.com if you are planning on coming so we can give them an approximate head count.

For the class of 73 plan on meeting Friday night July 24 at my house at 7PM. Barbara and I live at 1923 Grovecrest Road Germantown, Tn. There will be pick up food. Great conversation-BYOB.- Let me know atkdraffin@package-supply.com if you plan on attending.

I encourage other groups or classes to plan activities for Friday night or Saturday day-parties, golf outings, etc

Plan on being in Memphis the last weekend in July – we are planning a yearly gathering from now on!!!

Vernon Irvin, '73 passed away November 6, 2008. He was shot after he answered the door at his home in Frayser just after 7:00 pm. He died at the scene.

REUNION THIS SUMMER! 1973-76 classes will come together for dinner at Central Bar B Que at 4375 Summer Avenue on Saturday, July 26 at 6:00 pm. There will be a buffet for $6.00 per person. If we have enough interest, we will have a private room. You will also be able to order off the menu if you prefer. Please contact Ken Draffin at kdraffin@package-supply.com so we will know how many are coming so we can reserve the private room.

Friday night, the class of 1973 will meet for fun and fellowship at Ken Draffin's house at 7:00 pm at 1926 Grovecrest Road in Germantown. BYOB (we will have colas) and an appetizer if you would like.

Dave Grimm, '75, deceased May 14, 2008

Dave Grimm, '75, (who legally changed his name to Jesse Wilson) a musician and songwriter living in the Nashville area, passed away May 14, 2008 from pancreatic cancer. He leaves a younger brother, Danny, and an older sister Debbie, '74. In the fall of 1976, Jesse, Chuck Johnson, Leslie Maddox, Kevin Shea, and Billy Johnson recorded "Oh My My" at the Music Factory in Memphis.

Phil Eugene Edmiston deceased April 7, 2008

Phil Eugene Edmiston, 53, died April 7, 2008. He was a member of the class of '73 He met and married his wife of 23 years, Maritza, in Costa Rica in 1985. He leaves his wife of 23 years, Maritza Lara Edmiston and son, Jonathan David Edmiston, both of Bartlett, TN. He also leaves his siblings, George Kaylor Edmiston, Beth Edmiston Roberts, Corolyn Edmiston Evans, Bryan David Edmiston, all from the Memphis area, and James Gordon Edmiston of Virginia. He was interned at Memory Hill Gardens of Bartlett. The family asks that all memorial gift be sent to Maritza'a Ministry, Las Perseveradoras, P>O>Box 34126, Bartlett, TN 38134.

James Spires, Jenny Pressgrove Deceased

The Class of 76 lost two members in less than a month. James Spires died of complications from leukemia on December 11. He was the younger brother of Gene Spires (74).

Jenny Pressgrove (76) passed away on Monday, January 7 after a long illness. She was the sister of Randy Pressgrove (73) and Micki Pressgrove Seago (74). Jenny served as Treasurer of the recent reunion and of the Alumni Association. She was a member of the Class of 76, but graduated early with the Class of 75.

James and Jenny have been added to the Class of 76 Memorials Page, including a recent photo of James. In addition, we have added a tribute page to Jenny with childhood and recent photos provided by her family. Rene' Sowell Savage (76) Got Married!

From Rene' Sowell Savage: "On September 8, 2007, I married my best friend, Patrick Savage, and God is surely blessing us both. We live in Bartlett on the golf course and enjoy each day together along with my 19-year-old son, Colin, a dog named Sadie and a cat named Jake. I was single for nearly 7 years after 21 years of marriage (to a guy named Dale Berryhill, but not the one we went to school with) and the divorce left me with three boys to raise. We made it through amazingly well and my older two are out in the work force while my youngest is at Southwest studying law enforcement. My husband and I are members of Bellevue Baptist where I sing in the choir and occasionally with the Praise team and Pit Choir for the Memphis Passion Play and other events. Brenda Ison Calhoun (75) Is Cancer-Free!

From Brenda Ison Calhoun: "My cancer is currently in remission! It was a long, long nine months~~only three near-death experiences! I am back to work and back to life! We enjoy our 8 month-old-grandson so much. Now I know the meaning of that phrase, 'If I had known grandchildren were so much fun, I would have had them first!'

"I had an enormous amount of support from so many people, including many of my classmates I had not heard from in such a long time. Thank you all so very much! I had an incredible medical team but most importantly, I had a LOT of prayers~~and I know one could not do their job without the other!
